ADHD Evaluations for Children and Adolescents in Vancouver, WA
I'm Dr. Ryan Lloyd, a licensed pediatric psychologist in Vancouver, Washington. I provide individualized ADHD evaluations to help families understand attention, organization, activity level, and everyday functioning, with practical recommendations for home, school, and treatment.
When an ADHD Evaluation May Help
Families may seek an evaluation when attention, activity level, organization, or impulse control interfere with school, home routines, or relationships. Concerns may include difficulty completing work, losing materials, forgetting instructions, acting before thinking, or needing more support as demands increase. These concerns do not automatically mean a child has ADHD. An evaluation helps clarify what is contributing to the difficulties.
An Individualized Assessment Process
I begin with your concerns and the questions you want answered. The evaluation may include interviews with caregivers and your child, developmental and medical history, standardized rating scales, teacher input when appropriate, behavioral observations, and review of school records or previous evaluations. Information across settings helps explain both strengths and challenges. Direct psychological testing is selected when it will help answer the referral question; every child does not need the same battery.
Considering Other Explanations and Co-occurring Concerns
Attention difficulties may overlap with anxiety, sleep problems, learning difficulties, autism, or other developmental and emotional concerns. I consider these possibilities rather than assuming a diagnosis from a questionnaire or one test score. ADHD can also occur alongside other conditions. Assessment findings are interpreted together with history and everyday functioning.
What Your Family Receives
Families receive a written report explaining findings, diagnostic conclusions when appropriate, and individualized recommendations. A feedback appointment provides time to discuss results and next steps. Recommendations may address routines, organization, parent strategies, treatment planning, school accommodations, or additional evaluation when needed. Schools make their own decisions about eligibility for educational services.
Practical Questions Before Scheduling
The scope and number of appointments depend on your child's needs and the referral questions. Availability, fees, insurance benefits, and any referral or authorization requirements are clarified before beginning. I participate with selected insurance plans, and self-pay options are available. Network participation does not determine every plan's coverage for a particular evaluation.
Request an ADHD Evaluation
The first step is the secure inquiry form. Share a brief description of your concerns so I can review fit and availability and discuss appropriate next steps. I work with children, adolescents, and families in Vancouver, Clark County, and the surrounding Portland metropolitan area.
